Drawing, observation, recording and compositional organization are foundational tools for any creative practice. In this course, you will explore studies in line, shape, value, perspective, proportion, positive and negative space and the human figure. Using a wide range of drawing materials and hands-on practice, you will be introduced to drawing as a means of intense visual investigation. This course is an ideal, supportive learning environment if you are new to the field of drawing, and are looking to gain skills that will be broadly applicable.

Instructor information: 
Please bring the following supplies to class:
* 1 set of graphite pencils ranging in softness, 7 total
* 1 box willow charcoal
* 1 box compressed charcoal  
* 1 conte-one box, black, 2B (12 per box)
* a few sepia and white conte
* 2 erasers: one gum eraser, and one white vinyl eraser
* 1 Prang glue stick (21 gram)
* 1 Chinese/Indian ink 
* 1 package of 18x24" newsprint pad (500 sheets)
* 2 Sharpie permanent fine point markers, black
* 2 brushes: one large bamboo, and one inexpensive watercolour
* 1 pair of scissors
* some newsprint pads
* some white paper pads
* some good quality drawing paper: rag papers of your choice
