audio visual

The Audio Visual department provides the Emily Carr University community with audio visual equipment and services for creation, instruction documentation and exhibition needs.

Students, staff and faculty may borrow a variety of equipment which includes many types of film, video and photography cameras, audio recorders, an assortment of microphones and lighting kits, keys for accessing video editing suites and photo labs and presentation display equipment. Most equipment circulation is by reservation or on a first-come, first-served basis while some equipment is reserved for specific courses only. The AV department installs and maintains theater and classroom spaces which are equipped with a range of built-in instructional technologies.

Some classrooms are lightly equipped with a VCR and monitor while others, like for instance Emily Carr’s “smart rooms”, contain an integrated, remote controlled audiovisual system. Orientation and training workshops are available at the beginning of each semester to help faculty gain experience with any of the classrooms’ advanced presentation systems.
