Opportunity Description + Organization Information: 

The Richmond Art Gallery is joining in the Richmond Children's Art Festival,a large family-friendly event.

Work with hundreds of children and their parents for a fun day of art-making, viewing, and learning!  Volunteers prepare art materials and learn about the Gallery exhibition as part of their weekly orientation and training. Then on Monday, February 12, volunteers lead gallery tours, demonstrate and assist with exhibition-related art activities, read stories to young children, and ensure our visiting families have a great time in the Art Gallery.

Potential of this position expanding into an ongoing volunteer position at the Richmond Art Gallery for interested applicants.


  • Must enjoy working with children and have some experience in the visual arts.  
  • Knowledge and interest of contemporary art practices.
  • Customer service and/or public speaking experience in order to deliver tours and provide art instruction.
  • Excellent English communication skills. Additional language skills are an asset.

Volunteers must be able to work on Family Day, Monday, February 12, 2018 for a minimum 4 hour shift.

Training sessions will take place Mondays, January 15 - February 5 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.  Volunteers must be able to commit to attending a minimum of 2 training sessions.
