Opportunity Description + Organization Information: 

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual seriously interested in pursuing a career in the art field. You will gain a lot of practical knowledge and a firm understanding of how an art fair is run.

Areas of focus will include:

  • Contacting potential exhibitors. Raising awarness about the art fair and other events we organize.
  • Learning the general administrative duties of an art fair: data entry, filing, organizingexhibitor applications and general maintenance.
  • Assisting with event management and coordination.
  • Social media
  • Contacting press (writing press releases and contacting press)

Need to be available at least 8 hours a week. 

Our office is based in Downtown Vancouver.

This is a volunteer position available only to current students. We are not able to offer a Co-op programme.

Vancouver Visual Art Foundation

The Vancouver Visual Art Foundation is a non-profit organisation that aims to grow, inspire, and empower the local and international arts community. This is achieved through hosting artist receptions in various locations, and a series of events throughout the year, including our International Contemporary Art Fair; Art! Vancouver. We also support local charities through donating artworks to them to auction off, through creating events, and promoting their organization. 

Our vision for the Vancouver Visual Art Foundation is to create a premiere destination and event that brings global awareness to the visual arts. By hosting international attendees and planning several events in addition to Art! Vancouver, we will cultivate a positive and supportive environment that encourages artists and the public to express themselves unconditionally. While doing so, we wish to bring people together both locally and internationally in the celebration of art. 

 

Qualifications: 

We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal language skills. Advanced computer skills are necessary and familiarity with social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) is an advantage. Design software skills- Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign would be helpful. Prior experience in an art or event related field helpfulI. Initiative, and ability to work efficiently and independently.
