THETA is a dream every person encounters

at least once in a lifetime

a dream envisioning a unique image of GOD.

'Men ought to have regarded the uniformity of the stars' motions as proof of their divinity, but in fact most of us think the very opposite, that because they always do the same thing in the same way they have no life'.

PLATO  Timaeus

If I think of something existing outside of me, there are three factors involved: a thinking mind, the concept, which it forms, and the reality of which it is the concept.

PARMENIDES

A fragmented Mask hovers above a landscape of strewn metal and shavings. A Sparkler, like a Talisman, descends before the Mask and offers the gift of a Hand. Manichine, a mechanical creature, pokes and prods the living Hand with his pin. The Hand spasms.

A Man watches on, missing one hand. The Man acquires the Hand from the mystic Dragon Fly. With this Hand, the Man discovers the ability to create, with his other, the necessity to destroy. Their union delivers the final image of THETA.

THETA began from the idea that God, although omniscient could not act or react in our world. God is a presence, not an actor, a simple icon to an old way of thinking. People, at some time in their life, must grapple with the question of God. Some accept it, some dismiss it, and some never come to terms with it.

As many, I am torn between faith and disbelief. Although at times, some occurrence gives me strength to believe in such a being.

Rubén Möller is a 1990 graduate from art school. His filmography includes his first puppet animation ZoetropoS (18.minutes,1990) as well as, THETA (12.minutes,1995) both filmed in 16mm.

From these works he began to develop an intricate motion control system, coined the RUEbot. a multiple axis robotics rig elaborating lush camera and lighting movement.

Recently he completed SHEOL (11.minutes,2004) his first 35mm film, winning international recognition in many festivals.

Currently he develops a new work evolving his theory of media structures. pierce (3.minutes,2004) initiates the study performed for Bravo!FACT New Style Arts Channel.
