New Directions in Drawing Symposium

Daniel Choi, 8, Acrylic Spray Paint on Paper, 22x30”, 2011
Wednesday, May 11, 2011 - 1:00pm - 4:00pm

At its most fundamental, drawing is the act of making marks on a surface. This symposium aims to explore the expanding definition of drawing, by juxtaposing traditional and non-traditional approaches to mark-making.

The symposium, chaired by Dr. Monique Fouquet, will include speakers Diyan Achjadi, Lucie Chan, Roman Izdebski, Beth Howe, David MacWilliam, Elizabeth MacKenzie, Ben Reeves, Vjeko Sager, Durwin Talon, Renée Van Halm, and Neil Wedman.

New Directions in Drawing will also feature a digital drawing exhibition curated by Emily Carr Master of Applied Arts candidates Kristina Fiedrich and Gardiner Funo O’Kain, broadcast both online and as part of the Symposium at the University.  Please join us for a celebration of drawing.
