Call for Submissions | 2019 Vancouver Opera Festival

Vancouver Opera Festival Art Submission Call
Posted: Tue, 2018-10-23 17:00

The Vancouver Opera Festival is looking for submissions from artists of all disciplines to apply to be a part of our Festival programming. 2019 marks the 3rd annual Vancouver Opera Festival which runs from April 27–May 5. We will fill the Queen Elizabeth Theatre complex with performances, special events, workshops, visual art and other surprises.

The Festival features two mainstage operas – Gounod’s Faust, about a man who sells his soul to the devil and Rossini’s La Cenerentola, the classic Cinderella story. Vancouver Opera is seeking submissions from individual artists or groups to help us enrich and enliven our festivalgoers’ experience.

Using our 2019 theme of Fairytales & Fables as inspiration, we want artists to bring their vision to help us offer our community a memorable experience. We want you to create something special—something that will have people buzzing on social media and talking long after the Festival is over.

Think big, don’t be shy—opera is filled with emotion and we want you to spark something in our patrons that rivals the greatest arias.

Works can be passive or interactive (although, let’s be honest, interactive is way more fun), and can be one medium or inter-disciplinary. Act, sing, dance, paint, craft, build... all art forms are welcome and collaborations are also encouraged. However you want to interpret our theme of Fairytales & Fables, Vancouver Opera wants to hear your ideas and offer you a platform to reach a large and diverse audience.

Interested? Curious? Inspired?

Deadline for the 2019 Vancouver Opera Festival Art Submission is December 3, 2018.
