    Robert Arndt (98), Raymond Boisjoly (06), Matthew Booth (06), Heidi Johansen (05) and Kyla Mallett (97) are among the artists particpating in the group exhibition, Between You and the Thing Itself, curated by Dan Starling (05) at the or Gallery opening June 28 through August 4.     Congratulations to North Island College students Jill Alison Banting, Shelley A. Combs, Heili Garcia, Samantha Dawn Garstang, Judith Anne Koelman, Anh Thuy Le, Kristin Marie Russell, Marjorie Lynn Sorfleet, Dallas Eden Stevenson, Simone Carmen Thompson, Jaime Alexander Witcombe and Grace Wolff who received Emily Carr Institute BFAs at a convocation ceremony June 22nd. This is the first cohort of students to complete the ECI-NIC degree partnership program.

  • Ross Milne's "Cook Book"

    Ross Milne received a Salazar Student Award in the "Best of Print Design" category for his piece, Cook Book. Milne was also nominated in the Advertising Design category. Other recent graduates who were nominated for awards include: Jeff Kwok (Interactive Design) and Abi Huynh and Jeff Kwok (Print Design).

    In March, Dori Luthy-Harrison ('05) was elected for a 2-year term as the President of the Board of the Eastside Culture Crawl Society. Among its activities, the Society organizes the annual Culture Crawl which provides studio visits and sales opportunities for dozens of artists and artisans each November.

    The Charles H. Scott Gallery and Emily Carr Institute Press are pleased to announce "READ Edition 1", a fundraising print portfolio published by the Emily Carr Institute Press [ECI Press]. The portfolio features works by Fiona Banner, Dan Graham, Brian Jungen, Myfanwy MacLeod, Jonathan Monk, Shannon Oksanen, Peter Piller, Frances Stark, Michael Stevenson, and Ron Terada. The Portfolio curators, Christoph Keller and Kathy Slade, invited ten international artists to respond to the theme of reading.

    Nancy Bleck, artist, photographer and co-founder of the innovative and groundbreaking Uts'am/Witness project, has forged deep connections with the Squamish Nation and their traditional lands.

    Congratulations to Jason DaSilva, a 2001 ECI graduate and current Master student, who took home the 2007 "Emerging Innovator of the Year" award at the Canadian New Media Awards (CNMA) Ceremony in Toronto on May 28th. Media artist Sean Arden and animator Keeley Bunting, who received BMAs from Emily Carr Institute earlier this month, were the other finalists.
