Damla is a visual artist whose body of work addresses politics of encounter, (re)presentation, and tensions between a tactical economy of linguistic or physical materials vis-a-vis a productive proliferation.
Damla holds an MFA from University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver. She has participated in artist residencies and exhibited her work in Canada and internationally, including a solo exhibition at Fonderie Darling in Montreal. She currently teaches at UBC and Emily Carr University of Art+Design, and is an active member of Dynamo Arts Association.
