Ben Unterman
Bio
Ben is a user experience specialist focused on digital game design and the psychological aspects of interactivity. The power of stories to shape our experiences drives a lot of his research and design work. Interaction design in particular has the potential to use storytelling techniques to improve user experience across a range of applications.
Storytelling is also a significant influence on his work in game design. His research focus in this area is on innovations in game-based storytelling, especially exploring the ways in which game mechanics (and not just writing or character design) can create stories for the player. He has also explored different strategies in the creation of game interfaces with particular emphasis on representational interfaces that lend behavioural realism to games.
