CEDR 100 SU03: Introductory Drawing

Drawing, observation, recording and compositional organization are foundational tools for any creative practice. In this course, you will explore studies in line, shape, value, perspective, proportion, positive and negative space and the human figure. Using a wide range of drawing materials and hands-on practice, you will be introduced to drawing as a means of intense visual investigation. This course is an ideal, supportive learning environment if you are new to the field of drawing, and are looking to gain skills that will be broadly applicable.

Essential Items

* 1 Sketch book, letter size
* Large Sheets Paper - Newsprint, cartridge, or other inexpensive
paper, 18x24" approximate size, 40-50 sheets or 1 pad
* Various Drawing Pencils(variety of weights from HB-8B)
* 1 Kneadable Eraser	
* 1 White Eraser	
* 1 Pencil Sharpener
* 2 Graphite Sticks (suggested: 2B + 6B)
* 1 stick Compressed Charcoal
* Selection of Conte Crayons (suggested: Wht, Blk, Sanguine)
* 1 Blending Stump
* Pastels, Soft Assorted Colours, 1 pkg
* Pastels, Soft Black Charcoal, 1 pkg
* Willow Charcoal, 1 pkg
* Ink (India or similar black ink)
* 1 Brush (suggested: soft bristle, bamboo, or hake)
