CEDR 105 SU01: Drawing and Collage

This course introduces you to various approaches of collage in drawing while exploring the process of combining varied two-dimensional materials with drawing media. The focus will be on how variations in shapes and textures alter the composition and mark-making of a drawing. Subject matter will include the model, still life, found imagery and imagination. A wide range of drawing and collage materials will be used.

Essential Items

* 1 Sketch book, letter size
* Large Sheets Paper - Newsprint, cartridge, or other inexpensive
paper, 18x24" approximate size, 40-50 sheets or 1 pad
* Various Drawing Pencils  (variety of weights from  HB-8B )
* 1 Kneadable Eraser
* 1 White Eraser
* 1 Pencil Sharpener
* 2 Graphite Sticks (suggested: 2B + 6B)
* 1 stick Compressed Charcoal
* Selection of Conte Crayons (suggested: Wht, Blk, Sanguine)
* 1 Blending Stump
* Pastels, Soft Assorted Colours, 1 pkg	
* Pastels, Soft Black Charcoal, 1 pkg
* Willow Charcoal, 1 pkg
* 1 Ink (India or similar black ink)
* 1 Brush (suggested: soft bristle, bamboo, or hake)
* 1 Small X-acto style knife and blades
* 1 Acrylic matte medium
* Assorted collected collage materials (old magazines, books,
stamps, wallpaper, newspaper etc)
