CEDR 221 SU01: Intermediate Pen + Ink

This course is designed for students who have basic pen and ink drawing skills and would like to continue to challenge, develop and hone their abilities. Learn how to better convey your ideas and apply creative problem-solving strategies alongside technical and material practice. In addition to a series of intermediate pen and ink technique assignments, you will be able to work on your own projects and ideas while receiving robust and relevant feedback.

Essential Items

* Speedball mapping set and nibs
* 1 India Ink, 60mL
* 3 Acrylic ink, small bottles in Blue, Yellow, Red
* 1 Pilot G-tec C4 pen, Black
* 1 Pencil 2B
* 1 Posca Acrylic paint marker White - fine tip
* 1 Double Sided Bamboo Pen (available at Opus)
* 1 Watercolour set  in tubes (6 tubes or more) (Recommended: QoR
Watercolour: Introductory set of 6)
* 3 Bamboo brushes , assorted sizes
* 1 Watercolour mixing tray, your choice 
* 1 Smooth Watercolour paper pad 11x15" or larger
* 1 Sketchbook - from home or new
* Multiple Yogurt container/deli tubs/cups for water
* 1 Gum arabic - small bottle  (to be discussed in class)
* 1 Strainer (to be discussed in class)
* 1 Cheese cloth or coffee filter (to be discussed in class)
* To be discussed in class: coffee, beets, and other ingredients
for ink-making
