CEFA 100 SU01: 2D Composition + Form

This foundational course introduces you to the relationship of concept and composition in 2D art practices. You will develop skills in composition by investigating how line, shape, colour, texture and surface treatment enhance and influence form. Experimentation with a variety of media allows you to explore aesthetics and meaning by applying the elements and principles of composition. You will learn to reference historical and contemporary theories and image sources as inspirations for art making.

Instructor information: 
Please bring the following supplies to class:
4 1 Each pencils: HB, 2B, 4B, 6B (and/or others you already have)
1 Eraser
1 Glue Stick
1 8.5x11" Sketchbook (can be existing one you already have
1 Watersoluble Pencil (Derwent or Lyra or General's)
1 Graphite Stick (keep well wrapped)
1 18"x24" 18x24" pad of cartridge paper 
1 stick white conte or white sketch stick
1 size 8+ Synthetic paint brush, for example Opus brand 'Bravura'
in 'round' profile
1 size 8+ Soft watercolour brush, for example Opus brand 'Buzz
1 Colour Wheel (optional)
**I may ask for some found objects from home** 
**Photocopies/Magazines - will be discussed first class** 
**You may bring any colouring drawing tools you already own
(pencil crayons, pastels, etc.)**
