CEIL 100 SU01: Introductory Illustration

Illustration is an effective form for linking images to text and communicating ideas, offering commentary, educating and catching the attention of an audience. In this course you will be introduced to illustration and the many roles it can play. Hands-on projects, presentations, discussions and critiques will expose you to a variety of techniques, media and styles as you explore how content, design elements and materials are used in the translation of ideas into images.

Essential Items

* Watercolour Paint set/12 (suggested: Yarka, Mungyo, Cotman, or
* 5 tubes Gouache - Holbein Acryla set of 5 (or equivalant brand
in the following colours: Primary Magenta, Cyan, Primary Yellow,
Black, White)		
* 2 tubes Gouache - tubes of Red and Ultramarine (in addition to
set above)
* Selection of drawing materials (markers, pens, pencil crayons,
pencils etc.) as you already have on hand, to be discussed in
* 1 set Faber-Castell black pen set (or Micron) (set/4 or set/6)
* 1 set Watercolour Pencil Set/12 (Suggested: Faber-Castell)
* 1 set Brushes suitable for watermedia (suggested: Opus Allegro
* 1 Opus Allegro Watercolour Brush Flat 3/4" 	
* Paper - Illustration Board Peterboro HP 15x20 4/pk	
* Paper - Bristol Pad any brand and size
* Sketchpad or paper, 9"x12" size, 100 sheets (Suggested: Canson
XL Sketch pad)
* Flower style mixing palette	
* 1 Container for water	
* 1 Eraser
