CEIL 206 SU01: Narrative Illustration

This course will guide students to research, write, and visually capture narratives using illustrated imagery. Students will explore components of narrative such as identity, place, and lived experience through creative writing exercises and discussion topics, such as mythology and legend, visual histories, and the self as character. Diverse illustration techniques will be used to explore narrative symbols, sequential images, and conceptual compositions.

Please bring the following supplies to class:
Essential Items

* 1 Watercolour Paint set/12 (suggested: Yarka, Mungyo, Cotman,
or equivalent )
* Gouache, set of 5 (3 primaries, black/white)(suggested: Holbein
* Various selection of drawing materials (markers, pens, pencil
crayons, pencils etc.)
* Paper - Illustration Board Peterboro
* Paper - Bristol Pad any brand and size
* 2-3 Containers for water
* 1 Drawing paper or Sketchbook
* 1 Eraser
* 1 Flower style mixing palette
