Deepen and broaden your illustration skills and your understanding of cultural context in this course. Learn the iconographies of the field of illustration. Understand how image strategies employ persuasion, promotion, celebration, curiosity and criticism. From ads to culture-jamming, from commemoration to caricature, and from protest to propaganda, you will learn conceptual approaches to problem solving as they apply to professional practices in illustration.

Essential Items

* 1 Watercolour Paint set/12 (suggested: Yarka, Mungyo, Cotman,
or equivalent )
* Gouache, set of 5 (3 primaries, black/white)(suggested: Holbein
* Various selection of drawing materials (markers, pens, pencil
crayons, pencils etc.)
* Paper - Illustration Board Peterboro
* Paper - Bristol Pad any brand and size
* 2-3 Containers for water
* 1 Drawing paper or Sketchbook
* 1 Eraser
* 1 Flower style mixing palette
