CEPN 100 SU02: Intro. Painting Techniques

This course is an introduction to core principles in painting. Various painting techniques are introduced as you explore basic composition, line, contrast, colour, texture, and the use of tools and materials. Formal elements of composition are explored as you experiment with a variety of techniques and approaches. Through hands-on exercises, you will explore techniques and methods artists have used through the ages.

Instructor information: 
Please bring the following supplies to class:
* 1 Either a set (at least 8 colors) or various colour of acrylic
* Color should include: titanium white, pthalo blue, ultramarine
blue, middle yellow, cad middle red, quinacridone red or magenta
* 3 Any brushes: recommended 1 size 12 soft round, one 00 for
detail, several flats, Palette knives
* Palette, minimum 12x16", bigger is better. White surface either
paper or plexi
* 1 Spray bottle
* 1 2" house paint brush
* 1 Acrylic gloss medium, small to medium size
* 1 Roll of masking tape
* 1 Pencil and notepad 
* 5 Paper or other surfaces for painting (we can discuss other
surfaces first class)
* Saran warp and/or small resealable containers for leftover
* Assorted rags and sponges
* Containers for water (one at least 1 L size)
* Bring what you can to first class, if unsure we can clarify
