CEXD 225: Self-Directed Project

Cross disciplinary self-directed projects support students in analyzing their background and practice, and setting professional intentions for the future. These projects may take the form of a presentation, art or design piece, or short essay, and are often completed at the end of an educational program, during a transition between careers, or before beginning a new creative chapter. This course will guide students to reflect on their career background, educational history, and creative disciplines and make entrepreneurial connections between seemingly disparate practices and interests. Students will explore their personal and professional experiences through research, group discussion, writing prompts, and creative inquiry-based exercises, with the goal of synthesizing a cohesive and adaptive practice located in contemporary opportunities. Students' self-directed projects aim to establish next creative, professional steps with newfound clarity.
