INDD 310 S032: Core Studio Industrial Design

This 6-credit core studio allows for an intensive project-based learning experience in industrial design. Students will be exposed to skills and theories that build on the knowledge from second year, expand their design capacities, and prepare them to work independently in fourth year.

Course content:

Topic: Wood Product Design
Students in this course will work with local wood suppliers, manufacturers and retailers to develop “sustainable ready for market” furniture-based products or pre-fabricated wood products. Working in teams the students develop their designs through 2D and 3D iterations and there are three major critiques with external clients/ advisors throughout the full-term project. Final prototypes are 1:1 scale and students are expected to take their design and execution to a high level of resolution support by extensive technical demos.
