Industrial Design Woodshop

Industrial Design Woodshop The Industrial Design Wood Shop is open seven days a week with four technicians staffing. Students receive formal class demonstrations on basic shop safety, safe machinery operation, specialty joinery, and prototyping techniques; individual technical instruction is given on a daily basis as required.

The wood shop is well equipped with a variety of hand tools, portable machinery and stationary machinery: sliding panel saw, table saw, jointer, planer, three band saws, resaw band saw, miter saw, scroll saw, milling machine, two drill presses, lathe, inverted pin router, and sanders. Adjacent to the wood shop is an assembly room with work benches, downdraft tables for sanding and a spray booth. The assembly room is kept open after the technician supervised wood shop has closed and remains open during building hours for student access.

Students can purchase sheet stock, foam, plexi glass, and some solid lumber for prototyping from the technicians. Safety gear, sandpaper, tape, and a small variety of hand tools are also available for purchase.
