CiTR and Discorder are seeking a Volunteer Discorder Production Assistant

CiTR 101.9 FM is the broadcasting voice of UBC Vancouver, situated on the unceded, traditional Coast Salish territory of the Hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking Musqueam peoples. CiTR began as a student club in 1937, gaining not-for-profit status and a place on the FM dial in 1982. Run by the Student Radio Society of UBC, CiTR is a student-driven, campus-based radio station that works to serve the broader Lower Mainland community. Since 1983, CiTR has also published Discorder, a locally-focused magazine that covers arts, culture and current affairs.


Volunteer Position Description:

As the Discorder Production Assistant, your position involves supporting Discorder’s Art Director with producing each issue of Discorder Magazine. This includes assisting with layout, design, proofreading, and formatting artwork submissions. The Production Assistant may also support the Art Director to recruit, manage and facilitate volunteer involvement in Discorder’s Art Department.


  • Assisting Discorder’s Art Director with the organization and design of each issue of Discorder

  • Recruiting and supporting volunteers who wish to contribute artwork to Discorder

  • Editing and formatting images for both print and web



  • We would like the Production Assistant to commit to the position for one year, with a weekly minimum commitment of 6-8 hours. The Production Assistant is also encouraged to attend monthly Discorder meetings, including the monthly proofing party and contributor meeting.



  • The Discorder Production Assistant must adhere to CiTR and Discorder volunteer policies. They will report to the CiTR and Discorder Volunteer Manager, Eleanor Wearing, and CiTR and Discorder Art Coordinator, Ricky Castanedo-Laredo
