This is an outstanding opportunity for a career-track Project Manager who relishes a multi-faceted role with an exceptional company and iconic brand. The Bilingual Project Manager reports to the Director, Design & Construction. Ideally, the candidate will be based in Vancouver. However, consideration will be given to qualified candidates located in Montreal. There is a requirement to travel up to 25% of the time.

The Bilingual Project Manager is responsible for the planning and implementation of all new and renovated A&W restaurants as well as for the construction phase of all Corporate and Turnkey A&W restaurants with an emphasis on the Quebec market. While general contractors are responsible for on-site construction management, the Bilingual Project Manager plays a substantive relationship management and oversight role, particularly after development and sign permits have been obtained. Responsible for up to 20 projects simultaneously, the Bilingual Project Manager is supported by a Project Assistant. The Bilingual Project Manager trains, supervises, coaches, and mentors the Project Assistant to nurture the development of a high-performing team. The Bilingual Project Manager provides proactive problem-solving support and regular reporting to ensure all projects are completed on time, on budget and in accordance with design guidelines, building codes and A&W's standards. The position works closely with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including members of A&W's Design & Construction, Purchasing & Distribution, Marketing, Operations, and New Restaurant Expansion teams, as well as external partners such as architects, consultants, general contractors, suppliers, landlords and representatives of cities and municipalities.



The candidate must be a high-energy, positive team player with a "can-do" attitude and superb problem-solving, time-management, influencing, negotiation, and technical skills. A flexible, organized self-starter and proven leader with a strong drive for results, the candidate must have the ability to make decisions and the judgment to know when to escalate matters. The candidate must have strong written and verbal skills in both French and English and demonstrated proficiency in working on technical and design matters in both languages.

The candidate must have in-depth knowledge of, and experience in, producing architectural drawings as well as the ability to read and understand civil, structure, mechanical and electrical drawings. Preferably, the candidate has familiarity with new building site and building development processes. The candidate must have extensive experience in the commercial sector and sound knowledge of current building codes, construction estimating practices and contracts. The candidate must have a degree in a relevant discipline such as Architecture, Engineering, Building Technology or Interior Design, 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. It would be an asset to have had experience in restaurant design and construction and a benefit to have completed the PMP designation.
