 Position:        CAD Drafting Summer Student

Reports to:    Director, IT & Digital Strategies                               

Science World is a BC-based charitable organization that engages the people of British Columbia in STEM literacy. Our mission is to ignite wonder and empower dreams through science and nature.

Position Description: 

The successful applicant will seek to understand Facility drawings and plans. Using technological tools such as Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, prepare and up date Science World facility drawings to ensure they are up to date and complete.

Responsibilities:

  • The position will be responsible for working with the latest version of Revit and AutoCAD to update Science World drawings
  • It will involve drafting existing “as built drawings” from their paper state to CAD and updating master drawings with changes from as-builts
  • Review all paper drawings against the current digital files to ensure that they are complete, cataloguing them and preparing them for archives
  • Develop a file system where digital drawings can be readily identified and accessed on a read only basis
  • Work with contractors to ensure that they are providing updated “as built” drawings to keep the files current
  • Draft current furniture and exhibit layouts using facility floorplans available in CAD (Revit and AutoCAD)
  • Add building information to existing CAD drawings including electrical, mechanical, data, security, and other informational layers as appropriate.

 

Qualifications: 
  • Completed or enrolled in a suitable CAD drafting or design program
  • Working knowledge of Revit 2018 and AutoCAD 2018 is essential
  • An understanding of design principles is an asset
  • Available immediately until August 31, 2018
